Microsoft and Toshiba have released fixes for a Standby/Hibernation problem, Unfortunately, this does not help with my problem. This will display an option to either resume from hibernation or do a full system reboot. One issue you may have is the system is thinking the UPS is declaring a low battery condition, hence the system is hibernating. What Ever Happened with H2S Induced Hibernation?
My XP Home desktop PC takes so long to boot up that I've started shutting it down into hibernation rather than completely shutting it down. On each occasion, having once shutdown/rebooted spontaneously, the PC behaves perfectly when it comes back up again - it doesn't get stuck in a perpetual reboot cycle.
